Red Simpson electrical crews are receiving bird's-eye views of Morgan City while working in the area of General
McArthur and Terrebonne streets between Second Street and Sixth Street, as well as several intersecting streets.
Utilities Director R.B. Richey said work is about 45 percent complete on the $3.3 million electrical upgrade project
with completion expected this summer. The project is being financed by city funds generated primarily from utility
bonds recommitted by voters more than a year ago. Richey also advised much of the downtown and Front through Second
streets area will be without power for about two hours beginning at 3 p.m. Tuesday. Crews recently completed
installation of a new power line on Second Street and the planned power outage will occur when the old line is removed.
