During a storm one night in ft. worth I was given a 150 amp line fuse that was down. When I got to the fuse location it was pouring down rain. I was sitting in my trouble truck with all my spot lights on and flashers going. I was checking the numbers I had written down with what was on the pole, when I heard something knock on my window! I looked up and this guy was standing there with horn rimmed glasses on and a little pink flashlight, like kids toy light. I rolled the window down and he said "I found the problem, all by myself, its up there." I smiled and said oh yea? He pointed up at the fuse with his lil light. I was trying not to crack up! So I get out and get my long stick out and start to get the barrel down. There were so many trees I couldn't see the top of the pole. So I fire up Excalibur and lay a couple of scrub hackberry trees on the ground! He looks at me and says you cant do that. I said oh yea? So as I try to get the 200 amp barrel down he's standing right next to me trying to shine his lite in the pole. I keep asking him to move back because if I dropped the barrel on his head and killed him I would have a bunch of paper work to do. He takes one step back and that's it. I get the barrel down and refuse it. As I'm going back up he's still there and wont back up. this old barrel is an old latch kind so you have to have your stick in the ring or as you know it wont stay closed. so I think to my self ,,,by god your gonna back up now. I intentionally don't put the stick in the ring and close the fuse......I pick up about 100 amps of load. I have my head ducked and can see him out of the corner of my eye as I drop my stick down from the barrel. Hahaha you know how a 100 amp arc looks in the dark. I mean she bellers big time...I'm thinking please go out before the feeder trips. The wind takes the arc away from the other phases and goes out. I look up and all you can see is his flashlight goin up and down as he's running down the road.....I was about to dye laughing......thinking to my self "I SAID BACK UP"
